ETYMOLOGY OF CARAHUNGE AND STONEHENGE DISCOVERED

ARMENIAN PIE WORD FOR FIVE IS 'HENG'

hang (v.)

We start with a fusion of Old English hon "suspend" (transitive, class VII strong verb; past tense heng, past participle hangen), and Old English hangian "be suspended" (intransitive, weak, past tense hangode); also probably influenced by Old Norse hengja "suspend," and hanga "be suspended." All from Proto-Indo-European.
Germanic *hanhan (transitive), *hanganan (intransitive) "to hang" (source also of Old Frisian hangia, Dutch hangen, German hängen), from PIE *konk- "to hang" (source also of Gothic hahan, Hittite gang- "to hang,"

Stonehenge (n.)see second element in Stonehenge).

early 12c., Stanenges, literally "stone gallows," perhaps so called from fancied resemblance to old-style gallows with two posts, however more to the point, the second element of Stan-henges related to the verb hang. Some antiquarians suggest the notion may be of "supported in the air, that which hangs in the air" (compare henge-clif for Latin præruptum), in reference to the lintel stones, but the order of the elements and the inflection is against this. An ancient name for it was the Giant's Dance.

HINGE AND CARDEA

Numbers 1 to 10 are used for Marking out sacred - as in inner, intuitive - space and for fixing boundaries.
Numbers can function within or as a landscape of the mind.

For example the Five-pointed Star standing upright, with the topmost triangle pointing to heaven, is said to be the seat of all knowledge and wisdom.

AS ABOVE BELOW

The occultist and magician Éliphas Lévi's considered the pentagram,  to be a symbol that represented the microcosm, or the human. Macrocosm and microcosm refers to a vision of cosmos where the part (microcosm) reflects the whole (macrocosm) and vice versa. It is a feature present in many esoteric models of philosophy, both ancient and modern. It is closely associated with Hermeticism and underlies practices such as astrology, alchemy and sacred geometry with its premise of "As Above, So Below".
The Number FIVE in PIE Armenian is HINGE. It is pronounced by Armenians either with a hard G or a hard K, as hing or hink.
I posit that the Armenian word HING for the number FIVE is of PIE origin and is directly connected to the word in English HINGE and the etymology below proves the point. As to why the PIE Hing was given the pride of place as the number five, I will go on to explain.

Etymology

Starting with the word cardinalis which comes from the cardinal points of a compass, cardinal pertaining to the four directions, from the cardinal points on a compass. The origin of cardinal is cardō (“hinge”) + -ālis, adjectival suffix.”Since a hinge is the device on which everything turns, cardo came to mean “something on which a development turns” and as a result “something very important. The root of this word Cardinal is the noun cardo/hinge. The Hinge is cardo maximus which was the "hinge" or axis of the city, derived from Greek καρδίᾱ, kardia the 'heart'. The Quintessential. The cardo maximus was the "hinge" or axis of the city, derived from Greek καρδίᾱ, kardia — 'heart' and as such was generally lined with shops and vendors, and served as a hub of economic life.A hinge is the pivotal point. The present English etymology for the word hinge, is cognate with Middle Dutch henghe "hook, handle, "Middle Low German henge "hinge, from Proto-Germanic *hanhan (transitive), *hangen (intransitive), from PIE *konk- "to hang" (see hang (v.)). The notion is the thing from which a door or anything hangs. Figurative sense of "that on which events, etc., turn" is from c.1600. From Middle English henge, from Old English *henġe (“hinge”), compare Old English henġe- in henġeclif (“overhanging cliff”), Old English henġen (“hanging; that upon which a thing is hung”), possibly from Proto-Germanic *hangaz*hangiz (“hanging”, adjective). Akin to Scots heenge (“hinge”), Saterland Frisian Hänge (“hinge”), Dutch heng (“door handle”), Low German henge (“a hook, hinge, handle”), Middle Dutch henghe, hanghe (“a hook, hinge, handle”), Scots hingel (“any attachment by which something is hung or fastened”), Dutch hengel (“hook”), geheng (“hinge”), hengsel (“hinge”), German dialectal hängel (“hook, joint”), German Henkel (“handle, hook”), Old English hōn (“to hang”), hangian (“to cause to hang, hang up”). More at hangHinge, a principle, or a point iBefore we go into subtle meanings associated with a door hinge, let me throw light on JANUS who was in charge of crossroads and symbolized to Romans the process of thought when it came to having to make a decision — gazing backwards at the  past while staring intently into the new possibilities of the future at every juncture mental or physical in life. It was said that he tended to lurk in doorways, hovering on the 'threshold' but himself unable to step forward or back. His role was merely to point the way. Just the one to bring one to the moment in time, the now, when one is on the cusp of a life-changing decision. The lingering at doorways not deciding to go in or stay out, as luck will have it JANUS does manage to make a move at least once once in his life for which he was well rewarded — he got romantically involved with Carna, one of the Nymphs, and made her the Goddess of Door Hinges.

Cardea or Carda was the ancient Roman goddess of the hinge (Latin cardo, cardinis).
Cardea, goddess of health, thresholds, and door hinges and handles. As nouns the difference between hinge and cardo is that a hinge is a jointed, a  flexible device that allows the pivoting of say a door while cardo is a basal joint, like of the maxilla in insects. As a verb hinge is to attach something by. Limentinus was the Roman god protecting the threshold (limen) of the house.
Stefan Weinstock conjectured that these three doorway deities had a place in cosmology as the Ianitores terrestres, "doorkeepers of the earth," guarding the passage to the earthly sphere. In the schema presented by Martianus Capella, the Ianitores terrestres are placed in region 16 among deities of the lowest ranks, while Janus, the divine doorkeeper par excellence, is placed in region 1. This arrangement may represent the ianuae coeli, the two doors of the heavens identified with the solstices

Isidore of Seville says that there are two ianuae coeli, one rising (that is, in the East) and one setting (the West): "The sun advances from the one gate, by the other he recedes."

Isidore's definition is followed immediately by an explanation of the cardines (plural of cardo), the north-south pivots of the axis on which the sphere of the world rotates. These are analogous to the top-and-bottom pivot hinges of a Roman door.

In addition to the meaning of "door hinge," the cardo was also a fundamental concept in Roman surveying and city planning. The cardo was the main north-south street of a town, the surveying of which was attended by augural procedures that aligned terrestrial and celestial space. The cardo was also a principle in the layout of the Roman army's marching camp, the gates of which were aligned with the cardinal points to the extent that the terrain permitted.
Liminality has both spatial and temporal dimensions, and can be applied to a variety of subjects: individuals, larger groups (cohorts or villages), whole societies, and possibly even entire civilizations. Jungians have often seen the individuation process of self-realization as taking place within a liminal space. 'Individuation begins with a withdrawal from normal modes of socialisation, epitomized by the breakdown of the persona...liminality'.
Individuation can be seen as a movement through liminal space and time, from childhood its all a movement from disorientation to integration, a source of recreative power. In the field of psychology, cognitive dissonance occurs when a person holds two or more contradictory beliefsideas, or values; In the field of psychology, cognitive dissonance occurs when a person holds two or more contradictory beliefsideas, or values;

A transition in anthropology, liminality, from the Latin word līmen, meaning a threshold. A hinge unites the preliminal, liminal, and postliminal. The social rite of passage recognizable among many ethnographic populations is the passage of people from one status to another, initiation ceremonies in which an outsider is brought into the group. This can include marriage and all psychological, say movement toward a higher consciousness, initiation ceremonies that move one from the status to a higher inner circle, say of an outsider to an insider. So I posit that the hinge stands at the "threshold" between the previous four and the following six of principal, concept or structure. A dramatic tying together of thought and experience"
A  principle, or a point in time, on which subsequent reasonings or events depend. In statistics it is the median of the upper or lower half of a batch, sample, or probability distribution. A hinge is also one of the four cardinal points, east, west, north, or south.
In statistics, we would say that the midhinge is the mean of the first and third quartiles. The midhinge is the average of the first and third quartiles and is thus a measure of location. Quartiles are four equal groups into which a population can be divided according to the distribution of values of a particular variable. A quartile is a type of quantile which divides the number of data points into four equal parts, or quarters.
All said I want the reader to focus on what Stefan Weinstock conjectured regarding these three doorway deities. He placed their origin or the origin of the idea of the hinge, in cosmology, as the Ianitores terrestres, "doorkeepers of the earth," guarding the passage to the earthly sphere. In the schema presented by Martianus Capella, the Ianitores terrestres are placed in region 16 among deities of the lowest ranks, while Janus, the divine doorkeeper par excellence, is placed in region 1. SACRED GEOMETRY
It is often mistakenly said that geometry began with the Greeks, but before them were the Minoans, the Egyptians, Sumerians, Indus valley, Chinese, Phoenicians and of course, the builders of the western European megaliths all of whom left clear geometric fingerprints in their greatest constructions.

The Greeks may well have been the first to have offered geometry to the public at large, but they were by no means the first to discover it.

Sacred Geometry, I would define as the underlying numerical and graphic measure in and of the nature of the earth and the heavens. SG understands and defines phenomena in number and meter, in shapes that are recurring patterns in nature, like ratios and fractals. Sacred geometry revolves around the idea that all consciousness, including human, can be expressed  and explained solely, by point line square circle and angle.

THE essentials of sacred Geometry remain the same, a point, a line, a circle, a square, a triangle, and the myriad permutations all culminating with Euclid's most well-known collection of works, called Elements, which outlines  the most fundamental principles of geometry from five basic forms.

Exactly where sacred geometry came from wikipedia is not sure, In Classical Greece, it received its most philosophic and poetic applications and where Western cultures inherited it. Geometry’s origins are first traced in Egypt and Mesopotamia, and then to the Armenian plateau, where the earliest known cities are located. It is true that without geometry, you cannot build anything, and you could say that the knowledge of Geometry was key to our collective 'civilized' survival and without a doubt to be the key to unlocking the secrets of the universe.
Almost literally, geometry was a way of understanding our place in the universe, the structure of the universe and an understanding the how the natural order is governed. With Geometry man could "map out" the universe, he hope to be able to predict disaster, punishing droughts, floods and pestilence on the land around him, he needed to exploit for his very survival.
Geometry was also a fundamental tool for making things by hand, following the laws of geometry, based on an even older skill, that of number, of measures, or counting.
In the ancient world, this knowledge was considered magic, as magical, it was kept by the Magi, the first 'priests,' a carefully guarded secret which was passed on from father to son. As the image of the structure of the universe, geometry was the tool for understanding how the heavens worked, astronomy.
Sacred numbers on the other hand, I believe were initially named as a matter of fact and only in time are they took on metaphoric mystical or symbolic meanings. Their exaggerated mystical importance is rooted in the vanity of man.
Ancient Armenians had a very refined knowledge of astronomy and were able to predict astral events to an accurate degree. The oldest known observatories in the world are in Armenia.; The one I am keen to throw a bright light on is today called Karahundj.
Before I drag you along any further let me explain that there is a connection in the name KARAHUNGE and the name STONEHENGE which incorporates a EUREKA moment in it.

To establish the known facts to date on the use of, the name of, the meaning of, the origin of STONEHENGE and CARAHUNDJ I will quote all mostly from WIKIPEDIA.
The Oxford English Dictionary cites Ælfric's tenth-century glossary, in which henge-cliff is given the meaning "precipice", or stone; thus, the stanenges or Stanheng "not far from Salisbury" recorded by eleventh-century writers are "stones supported in the air". In 1740 William Stukeley notes, "Pendulous rocks are now called henges in Yorkshire...I doubt not, Stonehenge in Saxon signifies the hanging stones."
Christopher Chippindale's Stonehenge Complete gives the derivation of the name Stonehenge as coming from the Old English words stān meaning "stone", and either hencg meaning "hinge" (because the stone lintels hinge on the upright stones) or hen(c)en meaning "to hang" or "gallows" or "instrument of torture" (though elsewhere in his book, Chippindale cites the "suspended stones" etymology). Like Stonehenge's trilithons, medieval gallows consisted of two uprights with a lintel joining them, rather than the inverted L-shape more familiar today.
The "henge" portion has given its name to a class of monuments known as henges. Archaeologists define henges as earthworks consisting of a circular banked enclosure with an internal ditch. As often happens in archaeological terminology, this is a holdover from antiquarian use. Because its bank is inside its ditch, Stonehenge is not truly a henge site.

The term henge an IE word is in wide use in both popular and scientific literature always referring to megalithic monuments of the Neolithic and Bronze ages. Whether you are thinking Stonehenge, you are basically looking at Megaliths. Megaliths are single large stones, or a group of intentionally standing stones usually arranged in a circular or semi-circular formation, and that archaeologists believe were astronomical or religious temples or monuments. The earliest sites are thought to date back millenia.

To continue I take you to Armenia which said to be, it is one of the cradles to ancient civilizations and science thereof. With a rich cultural heritage dating back to 8000 BC (to some, even earlier), Armenia has inspired modern historians and archaeologists to develop a new perspective about the origin and development of the human civilization and our relationship with the cosmos. Ancient astronomers have left numerous traces of their knowledge and activities on petroglyphs (ancient rock art) of astronomical as well as astrological nature carved on rocks which are spread across the highlands of Armenia.
Regarding the location CARAHUNGE we are told that it is the most fascinating historical and sacred site, that it is a megalithic assemblage and that both namely and purpose, the twin sister of the famous Stonehenge of England (3001 BC). In Armenia, where Noah landed his Ark?

The Armenian Stonehenge (“Carahunge” in Armenian) is called “The Stones of the Mighty” it is regarded by archaeologists as an ancient observatory that is at least 7500 years old and may date back to as long ago as 15,000 BC or earlier. The Carahunge was used by the ancients as a portal to engage with the heavens, the planets, the sun the moon and the stars. There are many mysteries surrounding this megalithic structure. The structure aligns directly with Orion’s Belt on the day ancient Armenians celebrated the New Year (August 11th). They call this celebration “Navasard,” which translates to “Starship that Brings Information.” Did somebody say 'ship'? Anyway this day, August the 11th also marks the beginning of the Mayan Calendar (3114 BC) and many other historically significant events!

The names in Armenian Քարահունջ և Քարենիշ, are prehistoric for the archaeological site near the town of Sisian in the Syunik Province of Armenia. It is always referred to in international tourist lore as the "Armenian Stonehenge".

Today the name Carahunge is interpreted incorrectly as deriving from two Armenian words: car (or kar) (Armenian: քար), meaning stone, and hunge or hoonch, in Armenian հունչ means sound. This assumption of 'sound' being the word by changing hunge to hoonch for Cara-hunge, takes the inventor to suggest it means "speaking stones". This interpretation is gleaned or related to the fact that the stones make whistling sounds on a windy day, because of the wind blows through the multiple holes, thus speak.

So following this suggestion that the stones speak, in 2004, the site was officially named the Karahunj (Carahunge) Observatory, by parliamentary decree (Government Decision No. 1095-n, July 29, 2004).

Carahunge is also known in local lore as Zorats Karer (Զորաց Քարեր), Dik-dik Karer (Դիք-դիք քարեր), and Tsits Karer (Ցից Քարեր), meaning "vertical stones" in vernacular Armenian.

The Armenian historian Stepanos Orbelian, in his book History of Syunic (I—XII centuries)  gives us a connection to a near by village. He claims that in the Tsluk (Yevalakh) region of Armenia, near the town Syunic or Sisian, was a village called Carunge, so he associates the name Carahunge with the name of the village, which he claims means "stone treasure" or "foundation stones" in Armenian. Not so.

The
Armenian Stonehenge (KaraHunge) site dating back over 7,500 years, is believed to be the oldest observatory discovered to date. There are 223 slabs of Basalt rock in the shape of circles scattered all across the hilltop. Selected rocks have holes carved into them pointing to the stars. To be sure this monument alone represents the ancient wisdom held on this Sacred Land of Armenia, There is no doubt in my mind that the principles of Sacred Geometry were known and applied here. I posit and will show below that Sacred Geometry guided Armenian consciousness, architecture  and tradition as well as fundamental thought, regarding of space and time.
The greatest Armenian heroic epic a national oral tradition, tells a Great Cosmic Story of “Haik” (Armenian for Orion). When Haik, the forefather of the Armenian nation, defeats the intruding forces of Bel (Baal) of Babylon. The Great Armenian Calendar records August 11th (2492BC) as the day of the cosmic battle, which took place in the Armenian highlands of Ararat (Sacred Mountain of Armenia) whereby bringing Light after Darkness. In ancient chronicles, Armenia was called “The Land of the Haik” while modern Armenians still use “Hayg” for Orion and Hay for Armenian. Orion aligns perfectly over Karahunge in August

The Carahunge monument consists of the central circle, the north arm, the south arm, the N–E alley, (the course, the chord in Geometry (a line/path crossing the circle) and separate standing stones. The site is rich with stone settings, burial cites and standing stones (menhirs). In total, 223 stones have been identified. The heights (above ground) of the stones range from 0.5 to 3 m and they weigh up to 10 tons. They are basalt (andesite) stones, eroded by time and covered with moss and lichen of many colors. The inner surface of the holes is much better preserved. There are also many broken and unnumbered stones. About 80 of the stones feature a circular hole, although only 37 of the stones, with 47 holes, are still standing. They have been of interest to Russian and Armenian archaeo-astronomers who have suggested that the standing stones could have been used for astronomical observation. Seventeen of the stones were associated with observations of sunrise or sunset at the solstices and equinoxes, and 14 with the lunar extremes.

Through Galactic Alignment we open a gateway where points of Light, help decode Information that is transmitted. Through measuring the motions of the Stars, the Sun, the Moon the Planets, we enhance our understanding of the laws that are governed by nature. Us the Earth bound, enhance our relationship, our cosmic unity with the order of our Universe.

Now for the missing link, the reason why I have put the reader through some dark ally's, is the Erica moment I had when realizing that the Armenian name for the number FIVE, HING had carried forward without alteration to the English word HINGE. So it follows that the true etymological meaning of word Henge as in StoneHenge and CaraHenge is Hinge origin PIE Armenian Hinge. n time, on which subsequent reasonings or events depend. A hinge can also position itself as the one, the central, as the quintessential odd one on which the four cardinal points, east, west, north, or south hang.
Back to the etymology of  the word cardinal we come to Middle French cardinal, from Latin cardinālis (“pertaining to a hinge, hence again applied to that on which something turns or depends, important, principal, chief”).
Cardinal as pertaining to the ecclesiastical rank also suggesting or meaning "principal and essential". It is obvious why this would came to be; religion and religious authorities were paramount at the time.
As an adjective cardinal (comparative more cardinal, superlative most cardinal is of fundamental importance; crucialpivotal. (nautical). Of or relating to the cardinal directions (northsoutheast and west). A cardinal mark.

More on the word Hinge as One of the four cardinal points, east, west, north, or south. we can say "When the moon is in the hinge at East."Nor slept the winds . . . but rushed abroad."
Hinge is that on which anything turns, opens and closes, or depends on; a governing principle; a cardinal point or rule; as, this argument was the hinge on which the question turned upon the other; a threshold of the mind, a point between, the below and above, in and out, the articulation of a door, a gate, shutter, lid, etc., a support, or a pivot between two equally movable parts, to each other, alternate parts joined together, not forgetting the pin or pintle which passes through the knuckle and on which the hinge turns.
Also a natural movable joint; an anatomical articulation turning in a single plane, as that of the knee or of a bivalve shell. See hinge-joint, and cut under bivalve. Figuratively, that on which anything depends or turns as in a cardinal or controlling principle, rule, or point the north star, the heavenly hinge of the odd numbers, One three five seven or nine on which the cardinal points, east to west turn.

For many thousands of years Polaris has been used as a guiding star and reference point for navigators and astronomers. Through experience and observation humans discovered the North Star lights the way to true north. Know the secret of finding the North Star in the northern sky, and you will know how to find the four directions, the cardinals, even in the darkest of nights. So it follows that the hinge which comes after the four earth based 'cardinals,' literally hangs on the five, the fifth, the PIE hinge.

Beyond Geography In geometry and mathematics, cardinal directions or cardinal points are the six principal directions or points along the x-, y- and z-axis of three-dimensional space.

In the real world there are six cardinal directions not involved with geography that are northsoutheastwest, up and down. In this context, up and down relate to elevationaltitude, or possibly depth (if water is involved).
In astronomy, the cardinal points of an astronomical body as seen in the sky are four points defined by the directions towards which the celestial poles lie relative to the center of the disk of the object in the sky.[3][4] A line (here it is a great circle on the celestial sphere) from the center of the disk to the North celestial pole will intersect the edge of the body (the "limb") at the North point. The North point will then be the point on the limb that is closest to the North celestial pole. The number five, Hinge is represented by the Pentagram and the Golden Proportion. The four square are enough to account for the idea of matter, or substance. But when we get to Five we introduce the concept of Spirit, or governing intelligence; or in other words Life. The five-sided pentagon and in particular the pentagram star within it symbolises life and regeneration. It also manifests one of nature’s most startling proportional relationships, the Golden Mean. Not relevant but some interesting associations made over time regarding the number FIVE. Pythagoras believed that 5 represented man/woman in perfect balance with the universe and containing the sum of the male and female elements. At times this was taken to symbolize marriage. For the Sikhs, the number symbolizes the five sacred objects that are worn by all males. The Chinese believe the number represents the 5 elements that are used in the divination oracle The I Ching as well as on the Pa' Kua that is a device used for determining Feng Shui: FIVE ELEMENTS, earth, air, water, fire and metal.

In Wiccan circles, five can be found in the star shaped pentagram that symbolizes the four elements of earth, air, fire, and water surmounted or united by spirit.

Deities associated with the number 5 include Dionysus, the Greek God of Wine and Ecstatic Revelation; Ishtar, the Babylonian Goddess of Love, Sex and War; Mars the Roman God of War and Thor the Norse God of Thunder.

The colors sky blue and turquoise symbolize the number 5. The gemstones associated with 5 are turquoise and aquamarine. The flower associated with 5 is the anemone.

It is the spin that puts the feminine and masculine energies of the Earth and the Space into Creative Action.
The riddle from the White Goddess, Robert Graves, reads 'I was Alpha Tetragrammaton' AlfaBRDT/Aphrodite. A five letter version of the  Tetragrammaton (/ˌtɛtrəˈɡræmətɒn/ or Tetragram, from Greek τετραγράμματον, meaning consisting of four  letters. Without the Alfa, it is the four-letter Hebrew word יהוה, the name of the biblical God of Israel. The four letters, are yodh, he, waw and he. Semivowel aspirate, semivowel aspirate. While there is no consensus about the structure and etymology of the name, "the form YahWeh is now accepted almost universally".

Geometry

Fractal pentagram drawn with a vector iteration program.

The pentagram is the simplest regular star polygon. The pentagram contains ten points (the five points of the star, and the five vertices of the inner pentagon) and fifteen line segments. It is represented by the Schläfli symbol {5/2}. Like a regular pentagon, and a regular pentagon with a pentagram constructed inside it, the regular pentagram has as its symmetry group the dihedral group of order 10.

It can be seen as a net of a pentagonal pyramid although with isosceles triangles.

Early history

In early (Ur I) monumental Sumerian script, or cuneiform, a pentagram glyph served as a logogram for the word ub, meaning "corner, angle, nook; a small room, cavity, hole; pitfall" (this later gave rise to the cuneiform sign UB 𒌒, composed of five wedges, further reduced to four in Assyrian cuneiform).

The word Pentemychos (πεντέμυχος lit. "five corners" or "five recesses") was the title of the cosmogony of Pherecydes of Syros. Here, the "five corners" are where the seeds of Chronos are placed within the Earth in order for the cosmos to appear.
 Pythagorean Hugieia Pentagram

In Neoplatonism, the pentagram was said to have been used as a symbol or sign of recognition by the Pythagoreans, who called the pentagram ὑγιεία hugieia "health"
Hygieia and her four sisters (five) each performed a facet of Apollo's art: Hygieia (health, cleanliness, and sanitation); Panacea (universal remedy); Iaso (recuperation from illness); Aceso (the healing process); and Aglaïa (beauty, splendor, glory, magnificence, and adornment).

Pentagram of Venus

The pentagram of Venus is the apparent path of the planet Venus as observed from Earth. Successive inferior conjunctions of Venus repeat with an orbital resonance of approximately 13:8—that is, Venus orbits the Sun approximately 13 times for every eight orbits of Earth—shifting 144° at each inferior conjunction. The tips of the five loops at the center of the figure have the same geometric relationship to one another as the five vertices, or points, of a pentagram, and each group of five intersections equidistant from the figure's center have the same geometric relationship.

A pentagram (sometimes known as a pentalpha, pentangle or star pentagon) is the shape of a five-pointed star.
Pentagrams were used symbolically in ancient Greece and Babylonia. The pentagram has magical associations. The pentagram is also used as a symbol by other belief systems and is associated with Freemasonry.
The word pentagram comes from the Greek word πεντάγραμμον (pentagrammon), from πέντε (pente), "five" + γραμμή (grammē), "line".
