MALTA/MALITTA THE HOUSE OF HONEY

Necessity is the 'mother' of invention. In the 2009 re-examination of the stratigraphy at the Malta site, researchers estimated that the age of the  layer in which the figurine was found is about 30,000 years before our time.

I believe this figurine as well as same and similar figurines that have been discovered dating to the same period was when the ice age was upon our ancestors and survival was central and humans  fragile. I posit that this carving, this archaic yet sophisticated image was designed for the minds eye of isolate collective, to help organise the group to function as a whole, to help accomplish the tasks necessary to ensure their survival. An island like Malta, an isolate would have, out of necessity organized itself by mimicking a superorganism a social insect like the queen bee colony.
It takes the mind of a great bee keeper and a great queen bee to create a great colony and great honey. Queen Bee Melita the matriarch with Her consort the Bee Keeper, must have played a large part in helping to create the super-organized society of Malta to survive the ice age. 

The figure in the picture above is believed to have been carved during the European Upper Paleolithic, or "Old Stone Age", a period of prehistory starting around 30,000 BCE. A wide variety of dates have been proposed but most are around the 30,000 mark.
Very little is known about the above figurines origin, method of creation, or cultural significance, however, this is one of numerous "Venus figurines" surviving from Paleolithic Europe. 

What surprises me most besides the name given to the figurines is the fact that nothing is known regarding its cultural significance.
The purpose of the carving is the subject of much speculation. Like other similar sculptures, it probably never had feet however they think that most probably it might have been pegged into soft ground, or even laid on her back.

The figure has no visible face, her head being covered with circular horizontal bands of what might be rows of plaited hair, or perhaps a type of headdress. 
Very similar sculptures, first discovered in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, are traditionally referred to in archaeology as "Venus figurines", due to the widely-held belief that depictions of nude women with exaggerated sexual features represented an early fertility fetish, perhaps a mother goddess. The reference to Venus is metaphorical, since the figurines predate the mythological figure of Venus by many thousands of years.  Christopher Witcombe criticizes the term and speaks my mind exactly "the ironic identification of these figurines as 'Venus' pleasantly satisfied certain assumptions at the time about the primitive, about women, and about taste".

Most scholars or practically all it appears from my research assume that parts of or all of the body are associated with fertility, child bearing has also been emphasized by leading researchers who believe that the 'Venus' may have been used as a fertility fetish. All are confused by her breasts  which if my theory is right could be said to resemble jars of honey. Yes JARS OF HONEY.

Some brainy scholars have seen a similarity between animal brains and some of the distorted Venus figurines, which has lead some to suggest the possibility that some of the 'figurines' might instead be 'life-sized animal brain-images.'! The reason the brain theory has been proposed is because it is claimed that ancient shaman carved brain replicas that encoded characteristics of the totem animals of whose brain they copied. 

This idea or fact that humans copy and or mimic other animals is central to my hypothesis which is that the purpose of the carving was to imitate a QUEEN BEE, and the fact that She has no feet is simply because a Queen Bee is going nowhere in a hurry. 

Let me start by making my central point that 'man' is not a primate and has the unique capability and ability as well as the necessity/need, to imitate anything and everything in nature to survive the extremes of reality over eons of time and I posit that in the case of 'Venus' - (whom I will continue to refer to as 'Melita') - in Malta and the many other localities all over the globe, humans were copying a Superorganism the definition of which is - an organized society (as of a social insect) that functions as an organic whole, where individuals have their own life cycles, with some living longer than other types of 'cell,' in the same way that bees share four key stages of development from larva to pupa, but each individual completes its own life cycle and life expectancy differs for each individual.

The aim of any society is twofold, the one is for the individual to reach, or feel they have reached their potential, and transcend it, in all aspects of personal interest/benefit and the other seems to be, that one should feel useful in one’s society and feel he/she is benefiting it wholly. This society should be both organised by the collective and be centred on the 'herd.'

These two aims seem well covered by the model offered by the superorganism based on the sovereignty of the Queen Bee. THUS MELITA.

Melita, is the Hittite word for honey house.

To be fair, after coming across the above information plus the Hittite meaning of the word MeLiTa, I decided that the figurines should be renamed Melita, the reason being that as a philologist I am compelled into looking at the word I am given so as to see if an etymological meaning exists. When my intuition and the roots of the words, as in this case  MALTA and MELITA coincide it is conclusive for me and it should be for all. 

Etymologically the name Melita translates to 'honey sweet' and the Hittite word Meltta translates to Honey House and Myllita.

The most accepted  etymology we have for the word Malta it is said derives from the Greek word μέλι, meli, "honey". The ancient Greeks called the island Μελίτη (Melitē) meaning "honey-sweet", possibly for Malta's unique production of honey; an endemic subspecies of bee lives on the island. The Romans called the island Melita, which can be considered either a Latinisation of the Greek Μελίτη or the adaptation of the Doric Greek pronunciation of the same word Μελίτα. Another  suggestion is that the word Malta comes from the Phoenician word Maleth, "a haven", "a hearth" or even "a hive." One can see from the suggestion that the meaning of  Maleth is no so far removed from the rest, when one accepts the idea that a place, a port, or a hive is the place where great honey is produced. 

It is on the record that the Island of Malta, has several strong indications of a prehistoric female worship, where a number of the 'Venus' figurines have been found, along with a 'life-size' figure, which are by some referred to as the 'mother-earth-goddess' figure. 

What further confirms my hypothesis is the fact that 'Venus' figurines named Mal’ta were found in a river basin in north east Russia, with very similar attributes, to the ones found in Malta, all Palaeolithic figurines of women found in Malta, Mediterranean and Siberia, Russia.

Most of the 'Venus' figures on the island of Malta were found in or around temples, reinforcing the suggesting of an association with organized religious worship.

The shape of the temples themselves has been likened to the shape of the earth-mother-goddess figures. The same observation has been made at certain Neolithic structures on the Orkney Islands.

The dominant position of the huge female-goddess figure inside the entrance to the Hal Tarxien temple in Malta reinforces the idea that the figurines were a central part of ceremonial procedure. 

The Earth-mother figurine from Catal Huyuk in Turkey, shows similarity to both ancient and more recent earth-mother figures found in Europe, such as the Cybele of Minoan Greece.

SUPER ORGANISM, SUPER-ORGANIZATION: 

Melita seems to me to be an very early symbol of a sedentary co-operative society. An archaic model for the organization of labor, like for example, a caste system, designed to accomplish the tasks necessary to ensure the survival of an isolated self contained human group.
Necessity is always the 'mother' of invention. The 'Bee Keepers'  mind set must have ruled the collective, where the understanding or the meaning of the Melita figurine was central to survival. Melita must have been crafted to be used as a symbol of law and order, of self organization, in the mode of a Superorganism. She organized society, the model a copy of social insect that functions as single organic whole. She focused the MIND of the individual toward the need to prioritize the collective, the community, the colony. She gave a place for each within the whole. No words necessary, how honey is made is obvious to all, the rules, the workings and the process of production simple, just go out, find it and bring it home. The idea/design of the figurine must have been to establish and reinforce a reality, a simple concept that works when one is forced to exist within (isolate/island) a sedentary order. I am convinced that the LADY is the human anthropomorphic, version of a QUEEN BEE. 

MYLLITA  THE NAME OF A GODDESS WITH MEANING

The Goddess Myllita personified the concepts of reality, truth, destiny, balance, order, harmony, law, morality, and justice. 
Mylitta, means "The Mediatrix.

Mylitta is an alternative spelling to Malitta, which connects, with historical evidence, clearly to Aphrodite, because they say She Aphrodite is a derivative of the Babylonian goddess Mylitta.
Hislop reveals that the un-bloody sacrifice during the Catholic Mass is derived from Chaldea (Babylon). No blood was allowed on the altars of the “Paphian Venus” (i.e. Aphrodite) either.
Mylitta was depicted, just as is the Catholic Mary, with her son in her arms.
Mylitta was characterizes as a mother who had a gentle character full of grace and mercy.
The Romans changed the name of Mylitta to Venus and the Greeks changed the name Melitta to Aphrodite in order to better blend the goddess into their advanced new concepts for collective work ethic of unique cultures, but the nature/character of the goddess Mylitta remained with us. 

MALLEABLE MOTHER EARTH

A mother goddess is a goddess who represents, or is a personification of nature, motherhood, fertility, creation. 'She embodies the bounty of the Earth. When equated with the Earth or the natural world, such goddesses are sometimes referred to as Mother Earth or as the Earth Mother. MOTHER over LIFE AND DEATH, etc.

MYlitta was a goddess known as the wife of Enlil, Enlil, Mesopotamian god of the atmosphere. She first appears in the late fourth millennium BCE and survived into the first centuries CE. She was at times syncretised with various healing and mother goddesses as well as with the goddess Ištar. 

Herodotus called Her Mylitta and identifies Her with Aphrodite probaably due to Ninlil's syncretism with the original Ištar as the goddess of love and war. The name Mylitta is said may derive from Mulliltu or Mullitta.

 
Myllita As a goddess is said to have regulated the stars, seasons, and the actions of mortals and as for the deities whom she claims she had brought forth to create order from chaos at the moment of of need post creation.

M*L*T*, is the Abjad, the consonantal tri-literal for MALTA & MELITA

For the love of it let me try to break down MALTA, abjad MLT further. Syllabically and phonetically we are going to break down the word MALTA into three root syllables MA-EL and TAU, where I can show that each syllable has a root meaning that goes as far back in time as when Sumerian cuniform and word formation ruled taxonomy and the mind.

Ma phoneme represents the feminine, CREATERIX, ETERNAL UNIVERSAL FLOW. 

Ma is also an Anatolian or Mycenaean name for mother earth, a goddess.
Starting with Ma in (myth), we start in the Sumerian myth, where Ma like OM, is 'that' from which all primeval land and life was formed. OMA is very much like Mana from heaven.

Ma is suggestible, susceptible, impressionable, amenable, cooperative, adaptable compliant, pliable, tractable, accommodating.

Ma is docile, obedient, complaisant, manageable, manipulable, persuadable, governable, like like putty in someone's hands "a malleable young woman"
Ma is malleable pliable, ductile, plastic, pliant, soft, workable, shape able, mouldable, a tactile, tensile substance.
High plasticity keeps open the possibility of change. Over time the feminine changes more easily in response to circumstances.

Scholarship has been confused, because they translate the word without breaking it down to its elemental phoneme meanings.

A reminder that a Root system of a language like for example of Hebrew, make words like a tree with its roots, makes a trunk, branches and leaves,  etc. The Hebrew language is a system of roots and words, where one root and its meaning is the foundation to a number of other words whose spelling and meaning relate back to that one root and a word can be formed by combining more than two or thee roots.

The Second syllable EL, has been masculine, the letter L is the reflected or reflective light of the moon/loon. Back then this was when they said it was a MAN on the moon, A BEE-KEEPER? A FATHER CONSORT  FIGURE?  A male father figure responsible for JUSTICE? 

L, EL, with the early Phoenicians was the symbol and phoneme that represented the concept of a Merciful FATHER and JUSTICE, who was ETERNALLY POTENT.
Thus Ma+EL, as a monad, is a Masculine Feminine united, A MOMENT REPRESENTING an ABSOLUTE TRUTH. A UNITY FROM DUALITY, or as in chant MMMM OUM, the energy, the VIBRATION OF  CREATION, GENERATION.
This ancient Phoenician male god primarily represented the sky the above, the light, the spirit, he was the governor, or the governing principal of the mind. 

M*L* where L* is the masculine representation of the sky and M* is the representation of primordial Earth, mother Earth, a feminine representation of primal matter, we accept that Gender or differentiation, separation of attributes into the complimentary opposites was a given and that the stitch up, of these elements with the central idea of Unity understandable . 

The resulting compound word ML or MeLi meaning honey where it 'takes two' exposes the fact that human 'existence' and survival depends strictly on the common understanding that the bringing together of the opposites, whether above male below female or vice-versa, is the first ultimate goal of a high mind. So linguistically speaking we see Heaven, sutured with Earth as M is united with L, ML, MaLi together make, create, like the bees make the honey. So M&L are sigils of the heavenly pair.

The Hebrew Ēl who comes to us from the age of Taurus about 4400 BCE. is called again and again Tôru ‘Ēl ("Bull Ēl" or "the bull god"). He is bātnyu binwāti ("Creator of creatures"), ’abū banī ’ili ("father of the gods"), and ‘abū ‘adami ("father of man"). He is qāniyunu ‘ôlam ("creator eternal"), the epithet ‘ôlam appearing in Hebrew form in the Hebrew name of God ’ēl ‘ôlam "God Eternal" in Genesis 21.33. He is ḥātikuka ("your patriarch"). Ēl is the grey-bearded ancient one, full of wisdom, malku ("King" Governor, Ruler, Lord, High priest), ’abū šamīma ("Father of years"), ’El gibbōr ("Ēl the warrior").

Keeping in the front of the mind that it is 'PRIMEVAL  UNITY' is what makes/creates the 'HONEY' the idea that the figurine  represent A QUEEN BEE and the bee keeper is her consort, what becomes clearer is the role of the T which gives us the suggestion that there is a roof over the heads of the united pair. M*L* for the T, Tau, represents at root the TOTEM. 

The letter T is still with us in our alphabet and its root meaning has not been lost in time and it follows logically (in my mind as a philologist) that the syllable, or phoneme, or sigil MA was used as a reference to an an early concept of EARTH MOTHER and the syllable EL the masculine principal at root was most probably  HER MALE CONSORT . The suggestion of the triliteral matches the Hittite meaning offered above, that is that the pair were in union with in the Tau, represented their an Earthly Home, their Hive. 

The Tau (which is the third consonant in the word Malta/Melita/MLT,) in the very early Akkadian empire and language represented the Axis Mundi as we have it today. In time the T became the 'setsquare' of the Masons where it represents the 'fixed' the axis the square with the compass representing the above, the cycle . Where the vertical line cn'necting the above with the below was represented by the T, as in a man made Tree connecting or touching EARTH. The soul as one later writer philosopher named the T. 

T is the representative of the METAPHYSICAL EARTH AXIS, representing the upright status of all LIFE, THE LIFE FORCE ON EARTH. Tau represents the connecting point on earth, where the eternal spirit touches the earth, the essence presence within ONE and ALL existence. The T, Tau (Th) also represented as the TREE OF LIFE, they say the T is or must be the way. the path of Tau is the Cross of Christ.

'T'  is 'THE FOUNDATION' the foundation of the TREE OF LIFE in the Kabballah. I wonder if Kabba Allah translates to the Cube or foundation of El.

Going a little deeper into the Etymology of words in Hebrew which have within them the same roots M8L8 as Malta and Melita to see if more light can be thrown on the above I find Malkuth, Malchut or Malchus, where Chus in PIE represents the dust/earth/mound we are said to come from. Hebrew: ملكوت b;מלכות [malˈχuːt], "kingdom"), or Shekhinah, is the tenth of the sephirot in the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. It sits at the bottom of the Tree, below Yesod. This sephirah has as a symbol the Bride which relates to the sphere of Tipheret, symbolized by the Bridegroom.

Finally 'MAL' in Asia Minor TURKISH, refers to a SUBSTANCE IN WEIGHT, MASS, AREA, a MEASURE IN WEALTH, PROPERTY. MULL is the word used in Turkish when weighing-up something physical or mental. To EVALUATE, to MEDIATE. 

Mull in English shows as a verb, to mull, to think about (something) deeply and at length ponder, consider, think over, reflect on, contemplate, deliberate, turn over in one's mind, chew over, weigh up, consider the pros and cons of, cogitate on, meditate on, muse on, ruminate over/on, brood on, have one's mind on, give some thought to, evaluate, examine, study, review, revolve. So I posit that Turkish Mul and English Mull are cognate and have the same original M*L* root.

El is the keeper of MA is the Sovereign in MALTA and Aal must collaborate to pull together. Bee colonies are founded by ONE mated female (a queen). Only one Queen at the head.  We have an example of this union in Sumer, where Tammuz/Ta-mu-zi was the Shepherd or the light of heaven, or the heavenly spark who was the chosen One to mate with the Queen. The She  was again the focal point, the sovereign within the Ciborium, (a circular canopy over an altar, standing on four pillars, like a bed chamber, a four poster) where the circular represented heavens above and the four poster, the cube, the T represented the house of god on earth. Shethe Queen of the Sumerian colony mated with the chosen One just like the QUEEN  BEE of a superorganism.  

MA and EL, matter and mind, Earth and Sky. The 'birds and the bees' come to mind where for life to exist and for their to be a future, the collective must make honey. Together, hand in hand, they must have followed the concept of an earthly and heavenly unity, with the cause of creation in the front and center of the colony and the collective mind.
